Frances clutched the tiny, vibrant seedling close, its faint glow warming her palm. The whispers of the magical forest, now a constant hum in her mind, had led her to the edge of the Whispering Woods. Sunlight dappled through the ancient trees, painting shifting mosaics on the mossy ground. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, carrying with it the scent of damp earth and something sweet, like honeysuckle after a spring rain. It was beautiful, overwhelmingly so, but a knot of nervousness tightened in her stomach. She was just Frances, the girl who drew pictures in her quiet village. What could she possibly do for a whole fading forest?

The seedling pulsed in her hand, a silent reassurance. "You are not ordinary," it seemed to whisper, its voice like the rustle of butterfly wings. "You are the one they have been waiting for."

Taking a deep breath, Frances stepped under the canopy. The air grew cooler, and the sounds of the village faded behind her, replaced by the soft murmur of the woods. She walked for what felt like a long time, the path winding deeper into the emerald heart of the trees. Suddenly, she heard a faint, tinkling sound, like tiny bells chiming in the distance. It grew louder, closer, and then she saw them.
