Elara’s heart fluttered like a trapped butterfly as she approached Master Dubois. The delicate glass flacon, cool against her palm, felt both precious and perilous. It gleamed under the soft lamplight of his private study, the crimson blossoms etched into the glass seeming to pulse with a life of their own. She had spent the morning carefully polishing it, her fingers tracing the intricate patterns, her nose catching the faintest, most elusive whispers of its fragrance. Now, it was time to share her discovery.

“Master Dubois?” she called softly, her voice barely disturbing the quiet hum of the shop outside.

He looked up from a worn ledger, his spectacles perched on the end of his nose. A gentle smile creased his face, but it faltered as his gaze fell upon the object in her hand. The smile vanished, replaced by a look of profound surprise, then a shadow of something Elara couldn't quite decipher – unease, perhaps, or a deep, buried memory.
