Chapter 10: The Escape

Trapped within the calcified crust chamber, the air grew thin and heavy with the scent of burnt yeast. Joseph frantically pushed against the walls, but the hardened dough was as solid as concrete, vibrating with the low, ominous hum of the Demon’s nearby lair. Sarah, however, noticed a faint, rhythmic pulsing coming from the floor—the Demon’s own heat source radiating through the cave’s foundation.

"The heat!" she whispered, her eyes widening. She pulled a small, metallic multi-tool from her pocket—a souvenir from their trick-or-treating gear. She jammed the heated tip into a seam in the crust. As the metal glowed, the hardened dough began to soften, turning back into a pliable, gooey mess.
