The air in the Rainbow Villages, usually so vibrant with the cheerful greetings of its people, held a hushed expectancy. It was a quiet that had settled over the colourful dwellings and blooming gardens like a soft blanket, a stillness that spoke of anticipation for something new, something significant. Princess Ashley, her usual haughty posture softened, walked with a measured tread, her gaze no longer sweeping over the villagers with dismissive disdain, but rather with a gentle, searching curiosity.

Her first stop was Bartholomew the Baker’s humble shop, its windows usually adorned with glistening pastries that seemed to wink in the sunlight. Today, however, the display was modest, a few loaves of bread and a scattering of simple buns. The scent of warm yeast and sugar still wafted from within, a comforting aroma that Ashley had once taken for granted, or worse, found a reason to criticize. Now, it smelled like opportunity, like a chance to mend something broken.

She pushed open the door, the small bell above tinkling a soft welcome. Bartholomew, his flour-dusted apron a familiar sight, looked up from kneading dough, his brow furrowed slightly. His eyes, usually alight with the joy of his craft, held a weariness that Ashley now recognized as the echo of her own past unkindness.
