Chapter 5
A Glimpse of Moonlit Power
During a perilous training exercise, Kaida’s Moon Magic flares uncontrollably to save Zayden. The display shocks onlookers, drawing the attention of Master Eldrin and sparking fear and suspicion.
The wind whipped at Kaida’s tunic, a fierce, invisible hand trying to tear her from the narrow ledge. Below, the jagged rocks of the training grounds seemed to stretch into an abyss, each one a potential tomb. This was the third day of the advanced aerial maneuvers, a crucial part of preparing for the Eclipse Trial, and Kaida’s stomach churned with a familiar mix of exhilaration and dread. “Easy for you to say, Zayden!” she yelled back, fighting to keep her balance as the glider dipped precariously. She’d been struggling with the crosswinds all morning, a problem that hadn’t plagued her during the simpler solo flights. It was as if the very air was conspiring against her, buffeting her with unseen forces.
