While Silas and Jax head to the Directorate, Areum, Silvan, and Corvus journey to the ruined Blackwood estate to find the hidden vault. Inside, they discover not just documents but a woman imprisoned in a stasis chamber—Skye, the lost sister. The reunion is cut short by the arrival of Directorate soldiers, forcing a desperate escape.
The road to the capital stretched out before us, gray and endless. Beside me, Jax walked with his usual coiled tension, his eyes scanning the treeline like he expected an ambush at any moment.
"You're going to wear a groove in the ground if you keep pacing like that," I said.
"I'm not pacing. I'm walking with purpose."
