The Art of the Follow-Up
Ashley and Michelle continue their conversation at the café after Leo's exit, but Leo returns having forgotten his phone. His second attempt to pitch the project is more subdued, and Michelle's gentle probing reveals his fear of irrelevance. Ashley agrees to a coffee meeting to discuss the proposal on her terms, marking a small step in asserting her own timeline.
Michelle set the proposal down like it was radioactive. “So. You’re going to think about it.”
Ashley gestured at the papers. “It’s a solid plan. The numbers check out. The timeline is aggressive but doable.”
“That’s not what I asked.” Michelle leaned forward, elbows on the table. “I asked if you were going to think about it, not whether you’d already started a SWOT analysis in your head.”
