The world had turned upside down. One moment, Lily was bathed in the soft, familiar glow of Leo’s light, a gentle pulse against her own. The next, a roar, a tearing wind, and a darkness so profound it felt like a physical weight pressed down on her tiny wings. The world beyond this small, miserable hollow was a terrifying unknown.

The rain, while persistent, was no longer a blinding deluge. And then, through a tear in the bruised, purple clouds, a miracle unfolded.
