Lily revisits her drawings, remembering the pixie's giggles and Pip's happy barks. Her imagination is a powerful, joyful force.
The afternoon sun, a lazy smear of honey across Lily’s bedroom floor, cast long shadows from her easel and the overflowing pot of colored pencils. Lily, curled up in her favorite armchair, the one with the slightly lopsided armrest and the faint scent of old paper, traced the outline of a familiar, fluffy ear in her magical notebook. Beside her, Pip, a creature of pure joy and boundless energy, thumped his tail against the rug with a rhythmic *thump-thump-thump* that was as comforting as a lullaby.
“Remember him, Pip?” Lily whispered, her voice a soft murmur in the quiet room. She pointed a finger at the page, at the smudged, almost faded outline of a tiny, winged creature with a grin that promised untold mischief. “The pixie.”
Pip cocked his head, his big brown eyes sparkling with understanding. “Oh, the little giggles! He was quite the character, wasn’t he?” His voice, a warm, baritone rumble that always surprised Lily, was full of amusement. He nudged her hand with his wet nose, a gesture of pure affection. “He made quite a mess, but it was a funny mess, wasn’t it?”
