The air in my chambers felt thick, like the velvet drapes that suffocated the sunlight. It had been days since the… incident in the bedroom, days spent in a state of bewildered terror and a gnawing, undeniable curiosity. My father’s decree, the sudden reality of my three husbands, and their terrifyingly possessive nature had left me reeling. But beneath the fear, a tiny spark of defiance had begun to glow. I wouldn’t be a pawn in this bizarre game forever. I would demand my freedom.
I decided to confront them together. It felt safer, somehow, to face the three of them as a united front, rather than to be singled out and picked apart by their individual gazes. I found them in the sitting room, ostensibly discussing matters of state with my father, who was, as usual, blissfully unaware of the undercurrents of possessiveness that rippled around his daughter. Noah stood ramrod straight by the fireplace, his eyes, dark and sharp, occasionally flicking towards me. Liam lounged in an armchair, a roguish smirk playing on his lips as he idly spun a signet ring on his finger. Mark, ever the picture of silent efficiency, stood near the door, his presence a quiet, almost unnerving anchor.
My father, bless his oblivious heart, beamed at me. "Ah, Rabi, my dear! Come, join us. We were just discussing the ongoing harvest yields."
