The air in the OmniSec vault hummed with a sterile, electric tension. It was a space designed for absolute security, a fortress of data, and now, it was my cage. Miller stood between me and the exit, his usual charm replaced by a predatory stillness that sent a tremor through my already frayed nerves. The holographic displays flickered around us, their silent data streams a stark contrast to the roaring chaos in my head. The Q-RIS symbol, once a cryptic enigma, now felt like a brand, searing its implications onto my soul. My mother. The Dark Ledger. Project Genesis. And Miller, the man I'd trusted, was the architect of it all.
"You understand, Elena," Miller’s voice was soft, almost regretful, but the glint in his eyes was anything but. "This has to end. For everyone involved. For the stability of… well, everything."
He gestured vaguely, encompassing the invisible network of power he represented, the shadowy tendrils of the Obsidian Circle. My mother had tried to fight them, to build a weapon against them, and they had silenced her. Now, they wanted the weapon for themselves, and I, her daughter, was the last loose end.
