Princess Pippa found the Sleep Sprite perched precariously on the nose of a particularly snoozing butterfly, humming along to its rumbling snore with an air of intense concentration. The Lullaby, still shimmering with its soft, soporific magic, was clutched in one tiny, translucent hand, its notes being used as a rather enthusiastic metronome for the insect orchestra. The air thrummed with a symphony of snores, a bizarrely beautiful cacophony that would have been utterly charming if it hadn't plunged the entire kingdom into a state of wide-eyed, twitchy despair.

King Bartholomew, Pippa’s father, was currently pacing the throne room with the agitated energy of a squirrel who’d misplaced its favorite acorn. His sighs, usually reserved for moments of grave national importance or when Pippa’s latest puzzle involved more than 5,000 pieces, were now frequent and dramatic. “Pippa, my dear,” he’d boomed, his voice raspy from lack of sleep, “This is an outrage! An absolute, unmitigated, sleep-deprived outrage! The Royal Sleepover is tomorrow! What kind of monarch hosts a sleepover when half the guests are likely to be found staring at the ceiling, contemplating the existential dread of lint?”

Pippa, who had been diligently deciphering the Sleep Sprite’s final riddle – a particularly knotty one involving a dreamcatcher and a misplaced slipper – merely nodded, her brow furrowed in thought. "Just a moment, Father. This one's a doozy. It says, 'I flutter where dreams take flight, but I’m not a bird, nor a kite. I catch what falls, both good and bad, and make the sleepy feel less sad.' Clearly, it's the dreamcatcher itself, but the placement… ah, of course! It’s about the *purpose* of the dreamcatcher, not just its form!" She’d scribbled furiously in her tiny notebook, her tongue poking out in concentration.
