Valerius, his brow furrowed in concentration, traced a line on a faded map with a long, elegant finger. Beside him, I stood, my own heart a frantic bird against my ribs. “This symbol,” Valerius murmured, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through the stillness, “it appears on the ledger of the Silver Hand guild, on the seal of the treaty with Eldoria, and… here, on this anonymous petition submitted to the council five years ago.” He tapped a delicate, almost artistic rendering of a stylized raven’s wing. It was a subtle mark, easily overlooked, but once seen, it was impossible to ignore.
