The following Monday, a sleek, obsidian limousine, impossibly long and gleaming, purred to a halt outside the wrought-iron gates of St. Augustine’s Academy for Girls. It was a stark contrast to the usual procession of sensible sedans and the occasional sputtering bicycle. A man emerged from its depths, a figure swathed in pristine white robes that flowed around him like liquid moonlight. His face was obscured by oversized, dark sunglasses that offered no hint of expression, and his only visible adornment was a sense of quiet authority. He carried a supple leather pouch, its contents a mystery, as he strode purposefully towards the imposing stone edifice of the school. Within minutes, a hushed urgency rippled through the corridors. Emily, her heart giving an involuntary lurch, was summoned to the Headmistress’s office.
