The morning sun climbed higher over Springfield, casting long shadows across the park. Marcus and Lena sat on the bench near the basketball court, their hands still intertwined. The warmth of her palm against his felt like an anchor in a sea of uncertainty.
"So," Lena said, breaking the silence, "we need a plan. We can't just wander around school staring at people like we're detectives in a bad TV show."
Marcus laughed, the sound surprising him. "You're right. We need to be subtle."
