Serina's Perilous Predicament

Disaster strikes as Serina gets stuck on General Stokes' Van of Pain. Anna rushes to help with the pogodozer, but Mark intervenes, his selfish actions putting Serina in greater danger.

The air crackled with an energy that was both exhilarating and unnerving. Anna, her eyes wide with a mixture of awe and eagerness, patted the colossal, mud-splattered flank of the pogodozer. It was an absurdly magnificent machine, a titan of steel and hydraulics, its massive treads promising to conquer any terrain. General Stokes, in his infinite, twisted wisdom, had gifted it to her. A gift, no doubt, laced with venom, but right now, it felt like pure potential.

“Can you believe this, Mark?” Anna’s voice was a bright, hopeful melody against the hum of the dormant behemoth. “Imagine the places we could go! The things we could do!” She turned to Mark, her face alight with the prospect of a shared adventure, a rare moment of unity she craved.

But Mark’s expression was a stony wall. His jaw was set, his eyes narrowed, a familiar shadow of possessiveness clouding their depths. He’d been like this since the pogodozer arrived, a silent, simmering refusal to acknowledge Anna’s excitement, let alone her right to share in it. He moved towards the pogodozer, not with Anna’s shared enthusiasm, but with a proprietary air that grated on her nerves.
