Isabella digs into Sofia's background, finding little concrete information. The lack of a clear past only amplifies Sofia's mystery and her potential involvement.
The sterile glow of the precinct’s interrogation room felt like a stark contrast to the opulent, rose-tinted world Detective Isabella Rossi was trying to unravel. Sofia Ramirez, however, seemed to wear the harsh light like a second skin, her composure unruffled, her dark eyes holding a depth that Isabella found both unnerving and magnetic. They were back in the same room, the oppressive silence punctuated only by the hum of the ventilation system and the rhythmic tap of Isabella’s pen against her notepad.
“We’ve been over this, Detective,” Sofia’s voice was a low murmur, smooth as aged whiskey. “I was at home. Alone.”
Isabella met her gaze, her own sharp and analytical. “And yet, Ms. Ramirez, no one can corroborate that. No calls, no messages, no digital footprint for the hours Mr. Sterling was… indisposed.” She let the word hang in the air, a phantom limb of the violence that had occurred.
