The colors swirled around Lily like a playful, invisible river. It wasn’t just the vibrant streaks of sapphire and emerald that danced on the walls anymore; they were beginning to coalesce, to form shapes that nudged at the edges of her understanding. The Wise Old Owl, perched on a step a few flights above, hooted softly, a sound like rustling leaves.
“They are the colors of feeling, little one,” the Owl’s voice rumbled, each word carrying the weight of centuries. “Every hue, every shade, tells a story. And every story, no matter how bright or how dim, is a thread in the tapestry of you.”
Lily looked at a patch of wall that pulsed with a deep, velvety violet. It felt like the quiet ache she sometimes felt on rainy afternoons, the one that made her want to hug her teddy bear extra tight. Then, it shifted, bleeding into a sunshine yellow that made her toes tingle with the memory of a particularly good ice cream cone.
