Acceptance and Understanding

Lily stood before the mirror, the polished surface reflecting a girl she barely recognized, her eyes wide with a mixture of apprehension and dawning comprehension. The air in the room, once thick with the spectral chill of the memory, now felt lighter, cleaner, as if a long-held breath had finally been released. She saw not just her own face, but the faint, shimmering outline of a smaller girl, huddled and alone, her small hands clutching a worn, one-eyed teddy bear. "You were so scared," Lily whispered, her voice a soft murmur in the quiet room.
