The air thrummed with a new energy, a vibrant pulse that seemed to emanate from the very walls of the staircase. Lily’s heart, which had been beating a nervous rhythm against her ribs, began to mimic the quickening tempo. The swirling colors, once a gentle dance, now swirled with a fierce, intoxicating purpose. They bled into one another, vibrant magentas chasing electric blues, emerald greens melting into sun-kissed oranges, creating a dizzying, breathtaking spectacle.
