April, incensed by Summer's newfound, albeit accidental, popularity, devises a plan to isolate her further. She enlists her minions for a campaign of social exclusion.

April seethed, her perfectly manicured nails digging into the plush velvet of the café booth. Across from her, Chloe and Tiffany, her usual sycophants, nodded with the vacant enthusiasm of well-trained puppies. The air, usually thick with the scent of vanilla lattes and April’s expensive perfume, felt charged with something far more potent: pure, unadulterated malice. Summer, that meek little art mouse, was *thriving*. It was an abomination.

“She was actually *laughing*,” April spat, the words dripping with venom. “With *him*. Alex. Can you believe it? That… that Neanderthal.”

Chloe, bless her heart, attempted a sympathetic wince. “It’s just so *wrong*, April. Like a cat trying to knit a sweater. It just… shouldn’t happen.”
