Chapter 5
A Mother's Strength
Years blur into a struggle for Sarah. She shields Lily from the truth, weaving a protective bubble around her daughter while carrying the heavy burden of Elias's wrongful imprisonment.

Lily, too young to grasp the intricacies of injustice, accepted these explanations with the unquestioning faith of childhood. But as she grew, the questions became more pointed, the silences between Sarah’s answers more pregnant with unspoken truths.
“Mommy, why doesn’t Daddy ever call?” Lily asked one crisp autumn afternoon, her small brow furrowed as she traced the faded photograph on the mantelpiece. Elias, younger, his smile wide and unburdened, held a tiny bundle – Lily herself.
