I’d learned to navigate these hushed hallways with a practiced stealth, my footsteps barely disturbing the plush carpets. It was a strange kind of peace, this anonymity amongst the grandeur, a stark departure from the chaotic energy of the Edgars store where my world had collided with his.

Two years. Two years since that blinding flash of anger, that dismissive wave of his hand. And here I was, a whisper in the halls of his empire, observing, learning, and most importantly, trying to disappear. But disappearing was proving more difficult than I’d anticipated. It wasn’t just the sheer scale of his operation that commanded attention; it was him. Tafadzwa Nyathi. The name itself felt heavy, laced with the scent of expensive cologne and unspoken power.

He moved through the hotel like a phantom, his presence announced not by sound, but by the subtle shift in the atmosphere, a ripple of alertness among the staff. I’d seen him from a distance, of course. In the grand lobby, a fleeting glimpse through the glass doors of his private office, a silhouette against the panoramic city view. Each sighting was a jolt, a sharp reminder of the insult that had etched itself into my memory.
