Chapter 8
Whisper's Quiet Courage
Whisper, though timid, stays by Luna's side, offering unwavering support. She witnesses Luna's growing confidence and secretly hopes to find her own bravery.
The wind howled through the skeletal branches of the pines, a mournful song that seemed to echo the gnawing emptiness in Luna’s belly. Snow, relentless and heavy, blanketed the forest floor, burying familiar paths and muffling the scents that usually guided her. Her small frame trembled, not just from the biting cold, but from an almost palpable fear. Luna could feel it, a faint tremor of anxiety that always seemed to emanate from her friend. Yet, Whisper never strayed far. She was a shadow, a quiet presence, but a presence nonetheless, and in these trying times, that meant more than words could say.
“Do you… do you think we’ll find anything today, Luna?” Whisper’s voice was barely a breath against the wind, her eyes wide and searching the bleak expanse.
