The Rival's Growl
The scent of an encroaching rival pack, led by the fearsome Shadowfang, fills the air. Their presence spells danger, as they eye the dwindling resources of Luna's weakened pack.
The wind, usually a playful companion rustling through the pine needles, now carried a sharp, unsettling edge. Luna, her nose twitching, caught it first. A scent, alien and acrid, that prickled the fur along her spine. It was the smell of another pack, but not just any pack. This was the scent of Shadowfang, a name whispered in hushed tones even by the bravest of the elders. A wolf known for his cold eyes and a hunger that could not be sated.
Elder Rowan, his muzzle dusted with the first hints of white, lifted his head. His ears, usually attuned to the soft murmurs of the forest, were now rigid with alarm. “Trouble,” he rumbled, his voice a low vibration that echoed the unease settling over the den. “Shadowfang is near.”
A shiver ran through Luna. She remembered the tales, the hushed warnings passed down through generations about Shadowfang’s ruthlessness. He was a wolf who saw weakness as an invitation, and their pack, weakened by the relentless snow, was undoubtedly showing signs of strain. The usual boisterous energy of the younger wolves had been replaced by a quiet vigilance, their eyes darting towards the treeline with a shared apprehension.
