Where the threads lose their hold." He hadn't been exaggerating. The air crackled, not with energy, but with something far more unsettling – absence. It was like standing in a room where all the colours had been leached away, leaving only a stark, vibrating grey.

The space before Gate Eight wasn't a place at all, not really. It was a churning vortex of what felt like half-formed memories and forgotten sounds. Shapes flickered at the edge of my vision, too quick to grasp, like trying to catch smoke. The ground beneath my feet, if you could call it ground, shifted and dissolved, reforming into impossible geometries. It was a kaleidoscope of pure, unadulterated chaos, and it was terrifying.
