A Treacherous Escape
Temide and Eliza are targeted by Octopush agents. They must make a daring escape, protecting the evidence and their lives as they flee.
The hum of the city, usually a comforting lullaby to Temide, now felt like a strained whisper, a secret on the edge of being shouted. He and Eliza had been so careful, so meticulous, piecing together the fragmented whispers of data and the chilling pronouncements of Director Volkov. But the Octopush, like their namesake, had tentacles that reached further and faster than they could have imagined.
They were in a small, cluttered workshop tucked away in a forgotten corner of the old town, the air thick with the scent of solder and old coffee. Outside, the twilight was deepening, painting the sky in bruised purples and oranges. Temide’s heart hammered against his ribs, a frantic drumbeat against the silence. Eliza, her brow furrowed in concentration, was hunched over a tangle of wires, her fingers flying with practiced speed. The stolen data, the very proof of the Octopush’s insidious plan, was being copied onto a series of encrypted drives.
“Almost there,” Eliza murmured, her voice tight with a tension Temide knew mirrored his own. Her eyes, usually bright with a spark of mischief, were now sharp and focused, like a hawk’s.
