The air thrummed with a residual energy, a discordant hum that settled into Elara’s bones like a chill. The chamber, once a nexus of raw, untamed power, now lay in ruins. Stone had fractured, arcane symbols had bled into the very dust, and the oppressive presence of Silas Vane was gone, leaving behind only the lingering scent of ozone and something acrid, like burnt ambition. She stood amidst the wreckage, her breath catching in ragged gasps, the weight of what had transpired pressing down on her.

The confrontation had been a maelstrom. The Obsidian power, a tempest she had barely begun to comprehend, had surged through her veins, a wild, beautiful, terrifying thing. It had answered her desperation, her fear, her nascent fury, and lashed out against the Serpent’s Eye, against Vane. She remembered the searing light, the feeling of the world bending to her will, and then a profound emptiness, as if a vital part of her had been irrevocably spent.

Lyra, her face etched with a weariness that went beyond mere physical exhaustion, approached cautiously. Her gaze, usually sharp and knowing, was clouded with a complex mix of relief and apprehension. “Elara,” she said, her voice raspy, “are you… are you well?”
