Chapter 6
The Mapburners' Fury
Youssef clashes with the Mapburners, who seek to destroy the Codex to preserve history's chaotic truth. He must decide if editing fate is worth the annihilation of his own existence.

A harsh scraping sound echoed from the passage behind him. Stones shifted, the groan of ancient architecture protesting the intrusion. Youssef’s heart hammered against his ribs. He wasn’t a warrior, merely an apprentice scribe, his hands more accustomed to the delicate stroke of a reed pen than the heft of a blade. Yet, the Codex felt like an extension of himself now, a dark, potent limb.
