A Seed of Doubt
Mr. Grumbles begins to question his own rigid views. He sees the pure, unadulterated joy Pinky's 'silly' animals bring. Perhaps there's more to these creatures than meets the eye.
Mr. Grumbles, all bristly eyebrows and pursed lips, stood behind a rather sturdy oak tree at the edge of the children's gathering. He'd come, of course, with the sternest of intentions to shut this whole “nonsense” down. He’d pictured himself marching out, a stern finger pointed, declaring the proceedings officially over. But as he watched, something peculiar started to happen. The children, a sea of bright eyes and bobbing heads, weren't bored. They weren't fidgeting. They were *mesmerized*.
Pinky, bless her square, pink heart, was in her element. Her adorable little limbs, usually so full of bouncy energy, now moved with a deliberate grace as she introduced her next creation. "And now," she announced, her voice a cheerful chime that cut through the excited murmurs, "prepare yourselves for the most magnificent, the most marvelous, the… well, the *fluffiest* creature you have ever imagined! Behold! The Cloud Puffin!"
Mr. Grumbles scoffed internally. *Cloud Puffin.* Honestly. He’d spent forty years meticulously cataloging the rhinoceros, the grizzly bear, the majestic eagle. Creatures with bones and muscles and a healthy dose of gravitas. This… this was a recipe for silliness.
