The air in the Whispering Woods felt heavy, thick with a silence that was far too profound. Lily, Barnaby the owl, and Pip the firefly stood at the edge of the Glade of Whispers, a place usually alive with the gentle hum of contented creatures. Now, it was eerily still. The usual soft glow that emanated from the very trees and mosses was muted, like a candle flame struggling against a strong gust of wind. Lily wrung her paws, her brow furrowed with a worry that gnawed at her.

“It’s just… gone, isn’t it?” she whispered, her voice barely disturbing the oppressive quiet. “The Moonbeam. And everything else feels so… dim.”

Barnaby ruffled his feathers, his large, amber eyes scanning the subdued landscape. “Indeed, young Lily. The heart of the woods beats faintly. The creatures have forgotten their song.”
