The air in the abandoned tower, once thick with the scent of dust and decay, now hummed with a strange, nascent energy. Kaelen watched Elara, his gaze a tapestry of wonder and a flicker of something akin to fear. The last vestiges of the curse, like mist burning off in the morning sun, had receded from him, leaving behind a raw, exposed landscape of emotion he hadn’t known he possessed. It was a look she recognized, a look she had, perhaps unknowingly, poured into countless fictional heroes, a look that spoke of a love so profound it bordered on agony.

“It’s… different,” Elara murmured, her voice a soft breath against the silence. She reached out, her fingers hovering just inches from his cheek. The air between them crackled with unspoken questions, with the ghosts of shared moments. “I can feel… something. Like a song I used to know, but the melody is just out of reach.”
