Chapter 4
The Stolen Seed
Her son, not biologically Vincent's, is stolen. Traps are set, a mother's heart shattered in the 1990s, a cruel act by a husband driven by deceit.
The air in the small, rented apartment hung thick and stagnant, a miasma of despair clinging to the peeling wallpaper and the worn linoleum. It was the nineties, a decade that had promised so much, a shimmer of hope that had quickly dissolved into the harsh, unforgiving glare of reality. My reality. Lies, spun with the practiced ease of seasoned manipulators, had taken root, choking out the truth. They painted me as unfit, unstable, a danger to the child I had nurtured from the first flicker of life within me. My heritage, the very essence of who I was, the source of my gifts, was twisted into a mark of shame, a reason to doubt my sanity.
