Beside her, Seo’s hand tightened on the hilt of his sword, his gaze, usually so steady, flickered with a nervous energy. Flicker, perched on Elara’s shoulder, chirped a worried, low-pitched melody, its usual effervescence dimmed.
"It feels… sadder here," Elara murmured, her voice barely a breath. "Like the trees are weeping."
"They are," Seo replied, his voice a low rumble. "And soon, the source of their tears will reveal itself."
