The air in Princess Palace usually hummed with a gentle, contented glow, especially as the annual Glow Festival approached. But today, a frantic flutter filled the Grand Ballroom. Elder Willow, their wise old friend with bark as wrinkled as a forgotten map, looked positively flustered, which for Elder Willow, was like a sunshine cloud bursting into a hailstorm.
“It’s gone,” Elder Willow whispered, their voice rustling like dry leaves. “The Moonpetal. Vanished!”
Sparkle, ever the first to spring into action, bounced on the balls of her feet. “Vanished? But Elder Willow, the Moonpetal is the heart of the Glow Festival! It’s what makes the whole kingdom sparkle brighter than a thousand fireflies.” Her eyes, the colour of a summer sky, scanned the worried faces of her friends.
