The flickering lamplight cast long, dancing shadows across Kael’s workshop, each one a nervous twitch against the rough-hewn stone walls. The rhythmic clang of his hammer had ceased, replaced by a heavy silence punctuated only by the distant hoot of an owl. He stood by the workbench, his calloused hands still, his gaze fixed on the doorway as if expecting Elara to materialize from the encroaching twilight. The prophecy, the midnight bloom – these were tales spun from moonlight and folklore, stories he’d grown up with but never truly believed. Yet, Elara did. And that belief, that unwavering conviction, terrified him more than any shadowy figure could.
