The air in the small, repurposed shipping container, which served as Ocean Renew’s primary lab, hummed with a nervous energy. Outside, the grey expanse of the Pacific churned, a constant, brooding reminder of the task at hand. Inside, Dr. Aris Thorne, his brow furrowed in concentration, peered at a readout on a monitor, his fingers hovering over a keyboard. Beside him, Lena Hanson paced, her usual vibrant energy subdued by a palpable anxiety. Captain Eva Rostova stood by the reinforced window, her gaze fixed on the churning water, her arms crossed.

"Anything, Aris?" Lena’s voice was barely a whisper, as if afraid to break the fragile spell of anticipation.

Aris didn't look up. "The pressure differential is holding. The energy capture… it’s exceeding projections. Marginally, but it’s there." He tapped a key, and a graph flickered to life, showing a steady, upward trend. It was a small victory, a single point of light in the vast darkness of their endeavor, but it was a victory nonetheless.
