The Duke's Shadow

The chill of the early morning air, still tinged with the lingering scent of last night’s rain, did little to soothe the unease that had settled in my chest. Days had bled into weeks since Prince Adrian’s arrival, and with each passing day, the carefully constructed walls around me seemed to grow thinner, more porous.
