Guided by her ancestor's cryptic notes, Elara deciphers the first clue. It leads them away from the safety of her archives and into the perilous unknown.
The scent of aged parchment and dried ink was my solace, a familiar perfume that clung to the roughspun fabric of my robes. For years, the archives had been my sanctuary, a labyrinth of forgotten histories and whispered secrets, a place where the clamor of the world outside faded into a gentle hum. But the prophecy, that damning, exhilarating prophecy, had shattered that quietude. The Lunar Bloom. A force of nature, a harbinger of fate, and now, a desperate race against a darkness I had only ever read about.
My ancestor’s journal lay open before me, its pages brittle with age, the script a spidery dance that had, until recently, been an impenetrable cipher. Now, fueled by a fear that clawed at my throat and a nascent determination I hadn't known I possessed, the words began to yield their meaning. The ink, faded to a ghostly brown, seemed to pulse with a life of its own under the flickering lamplight. It spoke of celestial alignments, of moon-kissed soil, and of a power that could reshape the very fabric of the realm. And then, there was the first clue.
