Leaving Veridia, the adventurers follow the ethereal glow of the aurora. They encounter strange phenomena and feel the presence of something ancient and powerful drawing them deeper into the north.
The emerald gates of Veridia shimmered behind them, a memory of warmth and gentle chimes fading with each step. Elara, Finn, and Lyra emerged from the city’s protective embrace back into the biting kiss of the northern wind, their breath pluming like tiny ghosts in the frigid air. The sky above, a canvas of deepening twilight, was already beginning its nightly performance. Streaks of sapphire and violet bled into the inky expanse, the first hesitant brushstrokes of the aurora borealis.
“It’s… different out here,” Lyra murmured, pulling her fur-lined cloak tighter around her shoulders. The air felt thinner, charged with an energy that hummed beneath the skin, a stark contrast to the hushed tranquility of Veridia. The city, with its graceful architecture and the melodic murmur of its inhabitants, had been a sanctuary, a respite from the relentless journey. But the prophecy, a tapestry woven with threads of urgency and faint hope, had drawn them onward, ever northward.
Finn, ever the pragmatist when it came to the elements, scanned the horizon. “Different good or different bad?” he asked, his gaze sharp, missing nothing of the subtle shifts in the wind or the crunch of snow under their boots. He adjusted the pack on his shoulders, his movements economical and sure. “The further north we go, the more the wild takes hold. And the wild doesn’t care much for prophecies.”
