Chapter 15
Confronting the Gloom
They face creatures born of the shadow, monstrous and terrifying. The trio uses their combined abilities, the Lumina Steed's light pushing back the darkness.
The air grew heavy, thick with an unnatural chill that seeped not from the biting wind, but from a profound, gnawing emptiness. It was a cold that settled in the bones, a dread that whispered of things that should not be. Elara, Finn, and Lyra, their faces etched with a weary determination, felt it pressing in from all sides. The radiant glow of the Lumina Steed, a shimmering beacon woven into their very essence, pulsed against the encroaching gloom, a fragile defiance against the encroaching night.
They stood on a desolate plain, a place where the snow seemed to absorb all color, leaving behind a canvas of stark, unforgiving white. From the swirling mists that clung to the frozen ground, they began to emerge. Not the graceful creatures of the ice, nor the stoic guardians of the north, but things born of despair and the absence of light. They shambled first, then loped, their forms indistinct, shifting like smoke. Eyes, like chips of obsidian, glinted with a malevolent hunger. They were the shadow’s progeny, born from the fear and despair that had begun to seep into the land, and they moved with a chilling, unnatural silence.
