Moonlight, diffused through a sky still heavy with lingering clouds, painted the garden in shades of silver and deep indigo. I sat on the old stone bench, the one where Liam had first confessed his feelings, the one that had once felt like the centerpiece of my perfect, imagined life. Now, it was just a bench, worn smooth by time and countless shared moments.

He found me there, a silhouette against the moon-drenched roses. He didn’t call out, just approached with that quiet grace that had always both soothed and unsettled me. He sat beside me, the warmth of his presence a gentle anchor in the cool night air.
