Chapter 4
The Omega's Plea
Luca witnesses Lillie's suffering firsthand. Her resilience and quiet dignity, despite the abuse, stir something within him. He recognizes a flicker of the royal lineage he's heard tales of.
The air in the Black Pine territory was thick with the scent of pine needles, damp earth, and something else… something acrid and unsettling. Alpha Luca inhaled deeply, his senses on high alert. He’d heard whispers, rumors carried on the wind from a desperate omega who’d managed to slip away, tales of a lone omega in the Black Pine Pack, treated less like a pack mate and more like a beast of burden. The Moon Goddess abhorred such cruelty, and the elders were even less forgiving. His pack, the Blue Moon, was the traditional guardian of the royal lineage, their ears always tuned to the whispers of injustice that might threaten the delicate balance of werewolf society.

Even from this distance, he could feel the aura of sorrow that clung to her like a shroud.
As he drew closer, the scent, faint at first, grew stronger. It was unlike anything he’d ever encountered. Sweet, yet with an underlying wildness, a subtle floral note that hinted at something ancient and rare. It sparked a recognition deep within him, a primal hum that vibrated through his very bones. It was the scent of royalty, he was sure of it, though the omega before him was clearly in no position to claim such a birthright.
