The air thrummed with a tension so thick it felt like a physical presence. Lillie stood, small and trembling, yet with a resolve that seemed to radiate from her very bones, the ragged tears in her tunic a stark contrast to the polished silver of the ceremonial armor she now wore, borrowed from a guard who had shed a tear of sympathy. Before her, the assembled Alphas of the surrounding territories shifted, their gazes flicking between the disgraced Alpha Kael and the omega who had dared to stand against him. The elders, robed in the deep blues and silvers of their ancient order, sat in silent judgment, their faces etched with a history Lillie was only beginning to comprehend.
