The Royal Stand

The air crackled, thick with the scent of ozone and wild anticipation. Lillie stood at the edge of the training grounds, her heart a frantic drum against her ribs, but her gaze was steady, fixed on the imposing figure of Alpha Kael. He stood a stone's throw away, his own pack a menacing wall of muscle and snarls behind him. The Black Pine Pack. Her pack, by birthright, but not by choice. Not anymore.

Beside her, Alpha Luca was a solid presence, his own scent a comforting anchor in the storm brewing around them. His hand rested lightly on her shoulder, a silent promise of support, of protection. But Lillie didn't need it. Not now. The timid omega who had cowered in the shadows of Black Pine had been shed, like a dry, brittle leaf. In her place stood someone else, someone forged in the fires of hardship and tempered by the unexpected warmth of belonging.

"You think you can stand against me, little omega?" Kael sneered, his voice a low growl that vibrated through the ground. His eyes, hard and devoid of any warmth, flickered between Lillie and Luca. "You, who have never known a day of true strength? You, who were a runt even amongst your own kind?"
