A Strange Sighting

The world had turned into a dizzying blur of white and grey. Pinky, her little pink bow now a little askew, sniffled. The fluffy white snow, which had moments ago felt like the softest blanket for her paws, now seemed endless and cold. Each direction looked the same, a vast expanse of nothingness that stretched as far as her wide, innocent eyes could see. Her heart, which had thumped with the thrill of the chase, now felt like a tiny, frightened bird trapped in her chest. Where was Teddy? And more importantly, where was Mama?

She padded forward, her small paws leaving faint imprints in the snow, imprints that the gentle wind was already beginning to smooth away. She called out again, a soft, wavering sound that was swallowed by the immensity of the arctic. "Teddy? Mama?" Her voice was barely a whisper, a fragile plea lost in the vast silence. A shiver ran through her, and it wasn't just from the cold. A knot of fear, tight and unwelcome, began to form in her tummy. She had never been this far from Mama before. The familiar scent of her mother, a comforting blend of warm fur and sea salt, was nowhere to be found. Instead, there was only the sharp, clean smell of ice and the faint, unknown scent of the wind.

She sat down, her fluffy tail curling around her paws. Her lower lip trembled. Tears, tiny icy crystals, began to form at the corners of her eyes, but they froze before they could even fall. She looked around, hoping, praying for
