Chapter 7

Pinky’s little paws ached. Her nose twitched, catching the faint, familiar scent of worn plush and something vaguely like honey, a scent that always clung to her beloved Teddy. She’d been running, chasing that soft, brown shape as it tumbled and bounced over the icy terrain, a silent, determined pursuit. Now, finally, she saw it! She wiggled her ears, a little victory dance starting to bubble inside her. She’d found him! Her special Teddy, safe and sound.

The snowdrifts beyond it seemed taller, the shadows deeper. Where was the path she’d followed? Where was the soft, worn track that led back to Mama?
