Faye padded into the main room, rubbing her eyes with small fists. Her hair stuck up in wild tufts, and her pajama shirt was twisted sideways. She blinked at Jack, then at the closed front door.
“Who was that?” she asked, her voice still thick with sleep.
Jack crouched to her level, his expression softening. “Just someone who had some things to say. But she’s gone now. Everything’s fine.”
