The park outing takes a tense turn when Sarah Jenkins appears, threatening to expose Jack's location. Linah stands by him, but the confrontation leaves Jack shaken, and a new danger emerges as a photographer is spotted nearby.
The park was quiet for a Tuesday afternoon. A few children swung on the swings while their parents sat on benches, phones in hand. Faye ran ahead toward the slide, her laughter carrying across the grass. Linah followed at a slower pace, Jack beside her.
He seemed lighter now, the letter off his chest, the morning’s work behind him. But Linah noticed the way his eyes kept scanning the edges of the park, checking the cars, the people, the street beyond.
“You’re still looking over your shoulder,” she said quietly.
