Chapter 5
The Moon's Gentle Gift
In the grove, they discover Starlight's sparkle is a gift from the moon. The moonbeams illuminate her, showing her glow is a beautiful, magical blessing, not something strange.
The air in the hidden grove was thick with a silence that hummed. It wasn't an empty silence, but one that felt full, as if holding its breath. Starlight, nestled beside Flicker, watched the moonbeams spill through the canopy like liquid silver. They dappled the mossy ground, painting shifting patterns that danced with an otherworldly grace. Her own scales, usually a soft, earthy green, seemed to drink in the light, and with each breath, a gentle shimmer rippled across her body. It was a glow unlike any she had ever seen, a soft, internal luminescence that pulsed with a quiet rhythm.
Flicker, his tiny body a mere speck against the immensity of the grove, buzzed with a nervous energy. It's like the stars themselves have fallen and landed on you."
Starlight’s heart gave a little flutter. She had always felt her sparkle was something to hide, something that made her odd, but Flicker’s words painted it in a different light. She shifted, her scales rustling softly against the damp earth. "But… why me?" she murmured, her voice laced with the familiar ache of not understanding. "Why do I glow like this when no other dragon I've ever seen does?"
